Philosophy The WORKLINX philosophy is based on the premise that most business owners do not have accurate, easy to access detail of the standard operating procedures (SOP's) and processes carried out by their employees. The risk is that this knowledge or Intellectual Capital which is fundamental to the running of a business resides in the heads of the people doing the work….and the company has no centralized method to store it. If an employee leaves the company, so does much of their knowledge. The more important the employee, the more valuable the knowledge loss can be. This represents a devaluation of the business for the owner(s). The more employees with hidden (unrecorded) knowledge, the greater the valuation gap becomes. Should the business be put up for sale, a prospective buyer can easily discount the “unrecorded knowledge”. Without the existing team, no one knows exactly what to do or how to do it right or consistently. However, if the information is successfully recorded and securely stored – and most importantly; easily accessed – the knowledge has a real, tangible value to both the owner(s) and the buyer – but particularly the owner(s). The owner(s) is able to add real value to the asset register by including the WORKLINX data file. This file contains an accurate record of the business systems which includes the what, why, how and when procedures are done. WORKLINX System Builder Software and support brings new meaning to business succession planning. Whereas most business succession and valuation models focus almost exclusively on capital assets, the WORKLINX philosophy adds the power and value of the total business systems to the equation. This can greatly enhance the business worth and makes it easier to project a seamless transition from one management team or owner or to another. We like to use the metaphor of ‘gold ingots’ to explain the value of WORKLINX. Every Standard Operating Procedure is seen as a small ingot. Once recorded in the unique WORKLINX format, these ingots are stacked in a ‘safe’ which is the data file representing the Intellectual Capital of the business. In addition, WORKLINX offers a powerful linking of information from job descriptions to checklists to hazard and OSH management and much, much more. WORKLINX adds new resources to staff evaluations and team measurements. Through its training and ratings system, it’s easy to see who has been trained and in what areas.
