Veterinary Enterprises
Their USP is Knowledge
 |
John Harrison of Veterinary Enterprises, Te Awamutu had the importance of knowledge reinforced when he attended an industry meeting last year. A number of ‘stock firm’ people at the meeting were quick to point out that veterinarians had a ‘huge’ advantage over stock firm personnel when dealing with farmers because vets have ‘knowledge.’
The trouble for John is, he doesn't always see veterinarians using their knowledge and skills as their Unique Selling Proposition (USP) – they too often rely on the same information the stock firm people use – the stuff published by suppliers.
John is determined that Veterinary Enterprises veterinarians go deeper and find the knowledge farmers really need for making better informed decisions.
Certainly as scientists - veterinarians have a B.Sc. Degree - they have excellent knowledge and also know how to research new and specific information. The problem is, like for many of us, time is the issue. Busy veterinarians don’t have the luxury of enough spare time for research. And, many of their customers aren't happy to pay for ‘new knowledge’ unless of course the knowledge delivers additional value. Now that’s exactly where John and the Veterinary Enterprises team have their focus. They are determined to seek and define their knowledge in all areas where farmers can benefit, and to document their standard procedures to deliver those benefits consistently. That’s where Worklinx is assisting.
Veterinary Enterprises is the first NETWORK site for Worklinx.
Their aim is to define and record their Standard Operating Procedures for all SIX of their veterinary practices from Te Awamutu to Gisborne. The main datafile will be located at their Te Awamutu Head Office and each branch practice will use a ‘duplicate’ with local variables e.g. physical location - to ensure their standards are maintained across the business. It’s a huge task, but over time the benefits will flow for the business and their customers. Veterinary Enterprises will not only have the knowledge; it will be delivered consistently across their network.
